Initial Screening Appointment
An Initial Screening Appointment is a more informal assessment approach. It is used for children 0-2 years with mild to moderate delays or concerns in their speech and/or language. The first half of the appointment focuses on evaluating your child's development and communication abilities. We gather information from you and other caregiver/s and use observations of the child playing and communicating with others. These appointments are well suited to both Teletherapy and Face to Face. In Teletherapy appointments, it is very beneficial for you to take a few videos of your child communicating and playing with people they are familiar and comfortable with (e.g. mum, dad, grandparents, siblings). This can then be screen shared with the therapist during the appointment or sent prior. If there is a chance your child won't demonstrate their natural communication abilities in a face to face session bringing in a couple of videos is beneficial.
The second half of the appointment focuses on explaining and practising strategies to lift your child's communication based on your their abilities. It can also include communication strategies to manage emotions, toilet training and other daily routines.
At the end of the appointment, you will receive a Report of Screening Outcomes and a personalised “Your Weekly Plan” outlining the strategies discussed in the appointment.
During this appointment, if a more in-depth assessment is required, this will be discussed with you then. You can then decide whether to go ahead with this.

Teletherapy
At Time to Talk & Connect we love teletherapy for so many reasons. Most importantly, it is a great way to eliminate the stress of travel for you and it allows your child to stay in their natural and most comfortable setting. Your child is more likely to communicate naturally and this allows the therapist to see the child’s skills without competing with their nerves or discomfit from a new environment and new person.
Each appointment may vary and can be either parent and child or parent only. This will depend on the area of concern, the age of the child, your personal situation and the number of face to face sessions. Parent only sessions are a great way for you to learn and absorb detailed information about strategies and activities for your child with much less distraction. Claire requests that if possible, you record a couple of videos of you and your child playing before each teletherapy session so that she can see your child’s communication skills.
Unique parent only teletherapy consultation, 30 minutes | $80
For longer sessions see “All Therapy” below
Face To Face Therapy
These appointments can be at the Bridgetown Hub, at your home or your child’s school with a small travel fee. See home visits below.
All therapy strategies and activities are research based, practical and tailored to your child and your family’s needs. We frequently check in on your child’s goals and can adapt at any time depending on your child’s communication and overall developmental needs.
Home Visit Therapy
A home visit is a suitable option due to your child’s sensory processiong or when travel, siblings, nap times etc don’t line up. Claire can come to you for a small additional travel fee (see our fee schedule). Please have a comfortable floor space for all to play on or if your child is older a table may be needed as well.
